Meditative Drawing Workshops

Introduction to Meditative Drawing

We will spend our time together using the Zentangle® method to create beautiful abstract art by drawing structured patterns, called tangles.  The tangles will be broken down into steps making it easy (and fun) for all ages and abilities to draw!  Be prepared to break any limiting beliefs about your ability to draw, because you will discover that anything is possible one stroke at a time.  Learn the foundation for meditative drawing and three to five different tangle patterns.  Materials needed:  Pen that doesn’t bleed; pencil, blending tool / tortillion (Q-tip works in a pinch), and paper to draw on that won’t bleed through or rip when blending the pencil lines.  An optional kit can be purchased for $6 and mailed to your home.  The Intro kit  includes a Sakura Micron 01 pen, small pencil, tortillion, and four official Zentangle tiles.  Click here for a photo of the kit and additional items you can purchase from me.  This class satisfies the prerequisite for Intermediate and Advanced Meditative Drawing workshops.  Tangles taught at the workshops will be varied; you will learn new tangles each time you take this workshop.

ZIA – Zentangle Inspired Art — Alphabet

Are you interested in taking your tangling to another level?  Zentangle is nonrepresentational by definition but we can use the method to create Zentangle Inspired Art (ZIA).  Using tangles we can create objects we love and recognize.  In this workshop we will draw / tangle an ornamental letter in a frame (or not — your choice).  You can use it as a bookmark, a thank you note, give it to someone as a keepsake, or display it in a frame or on a small easel.

Drawing materials will be mailed to your U.S. address for virtual classes and provided at the class for in-person events (one 3.5″ x 3.5″ tile and one 6″ x 6″ tile, Sakura Micron 01 pen, small pencil, and tortillion).  Click here for a photo of the ZIA Letter kit.  We will have links to ornamental letters to use as inspiration or you can use your imagination.
